Gala Knörr presents three works that showcase the flexibility of her pictorial practice following her research, reinterpreting historical references from rave culture and exploring the intrinsic connection between the act of partying and the act of protesting. The project originated from her filming of the People’s Vote March in London in October 2019. At the end of the march, she came across an improvised rave in Trafalgar Square, an experience that sparked her fascination with the distinctive ways people engage in protests. Knörr drew parallels between this event and the Freedom To Party march held in the same square in January 1990, where nearly 10,000 people danced in protest against Graham Bright's bill, which sought to ban rave parties.

Knörr creates a batik textile installation reminiscent of Loaded by Primal Scream, a track whose remix by Andrew Weatherall became an anthem of the Second Summer of Love, sampling the speech delivered by Heavenly Blues, a character played by Peter Fonda in The Wild Angels, inciting revelry. Knörr employs dynamic and unexpected formats for her pictorial works, such as T-shirt-shaped canvases that evoke imagery from the 1992 Castlemorton rave, the epitome of a Temporary Autonomous Zone (TAZ) as defined by writer and philosopher Hakim Bey. A TAZ is described as a temporary space of freedom beyond the control of authority, where individuals can experience autonomy and community without being constrained by pre-established social norms.

Gala Knörr presenta tres obras que demuestran la elasticidad de su trabajo pictórico tras su investigación, reinterpretando referencias históricas de la cultura rave explorando la intrínseca relación que existe entre el acto de la fiesta y el acto de la protesta. El proyecto se originó a partir de la filmación que realizó de la People’s Vote March en Londres en octubre de 2019. Al final de la marcha, se encontró con una rave improvisada en Trafalgar Square, una experiencia que despertó su fascinación por las formas distintivas en que las personas se involucran en las protestas. Knörr conectó las similitudes entre este evento y la marcha Freedom To Party en la misma plaza en enero de 1990, donde casi 10.000 personas bailaron en contra de la ley Graham Bright, que prohibiría las fiestas rave.

Knörr realiza una instalación de telas al batik que nos recuerda a Loaded canción de Primal Scream, cuya remezcla de Andrew Weatherall se convertiría en un himno del Second Summer of Love, sampleando del discurso que Heavenly Blues, personaje interpretado por Peter Fonda en The Wild Angels incitando al jolgorio. Knörr utiliza formatos dinámicos e inesperados para sus obras pictóricas como los lienzos en forma de camiseta que rememoran imágenes de la rave en Castlemorton de 1992, el epítome de una TAZ (Zona Temporal Autónoma) definida por el escritor y filósofo Hakim Bey como un espacio temporal de libertad fuera del control de la autoridad, donde las personas puedan experimentar autonomía y una comunidad sin ser reprimidas por las normas sociales preestablecidas.
